Gravity Part 7

Just from the gravitational principle, a prediction is made that not only will the apple resist a change in its speed in the up-down direction, but also in all horizontal directions; that is, directions parallel to the Earth's surface.

You can identify this "sense" of resistance in the horizontal plane as the Apple's MASS, which is fine by me. Just note that it is a feature of the Apple resisting a change in its gravity-induced motion in all directions.

Therefore, both weight and mass are properties that stem from an object's interaction with gravity. Both refer to an INERTIA to stay in a certain motion and not change from that motion, where the motion GENERALLY is an acceleration.

All of this is, of course, contained in Einstein's General Relativity equations.
